Banks

Bank of Dixon – North 1st and East B Streets – 1911

The Bank of Dixon was first located on West B Street between what is today Cynde’s Place and the Moose Lodge.  In 1911, it moved to the corner of North 1st and East B Streets.  It was later renamed Bank of America.  This beautiful building was torn down in 1960 and the existing building and parking lot were built in its place.  Bank of America closed its Dixon branch on September 13, 2016.

First National Bank of Dixon – North 1st and East B Streets – 1911

This is the First National Bank that opened in 1910. Just 20 days after the bank opened in 1910, it had 93 accounts with deposits totaling $75,305. After four months in business, the depository numbered 180 accounts totaling $101,649. The first bank president was Henry Timm. It was later replaced with a modern building in 1963 and still stands today. In the 1980s, the name of the bank was changed to First Northern Bank.

DIXON HISTORICAL SOCIETY LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Since time immemorial, the land where Dixon and it's surrounding areas is located has been the home of the Wintun Tribal people, also known as Patwin.  Today, there are three federally-recognized Wintun tribes: Cachil Dehe Band of Wintun Indians of the Colusa Indian Community, Kletsel Dehe Band of Wintun Indians and Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation.  We are honored and grateful to be here today on their traditional lands.  The Dixon Historical Society is committed to recognizing and celebrating the culture and language of the Wintun tribal people.
