Old Home Movies

This is a great place to start your journey through the history of Dixon. No serious demands on your participation. Let's start off with some Old Home movies taken by Dixon natives of Dixon subjects and personalities between 1938 and 1960.

Joe Azevedo's digitized 16mm movies of Dixon events of the 1950's. Joe has given us three interesting videos that will most certainly bring back memories of the Dixon of 70 years ago. If you are not old enough to remember the 1950s, just have a look at some of the parades and celebrations of yesterday and consider it a history lesson. What do you think: does history repeat itself?

  • Twenty-four (24) 8mm movies from Jim Wiggins Family from years 1940’s and 1950’s. Various subjects.

DIXON HISTORICAL SOCIETY LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Since time immemorial, the land where Dixon and it's surrounding areas is located has been the home of the Wintun Tribal people, also known as Patwin.  Today, there are three federally-recognized Wintun tribes: Cachil Dehe Band of Wintun Indians of the Colusa Indian Community, Kletsel Dehe Band of Wintun Indians and Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation.  We are honored and grateful to be here today on their traditional lands.  The Dixon Historical Society is committed to recognizing and celebrating the culture and language of the Wintun tribal people.
