2009 Inventory of Dixon Town
and City Records

General:

In 2009, as a project of the Dixon Historical Society, Hayward Melville and Alan Schmeiser conducted a physical inventory of all Dixon Town Records being held in the Town Records Storage vault and elsewhere in the Dixon Town Hall complex. The inventory took three months, was very detailed and to the best of our knowledge nothing was missed or omitted. Inventory documents were created and made part of the Final Report which was submitted to the Dixon City Clerk on 24 September 2009. The Final Report details all inventory activities.

Important Dates:

The Dixon Tribune was first published on Saturday November 14, 1874.

Dixon was incorporated in the State of California on Monday May 27, 1878.

There were no official City Records of any sort found for the period of 27 May, 1878 and 11 February 1912.

DIXON HISTORICAL SOCIETY LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Since time immemorial, the land where Dixon and it's surrounding areas is located has been the home of the Wintun Tribal people, also known as Patwin.  Today, there are three federally-recognized Wintun tribes: Cachil Dehe Band of Wintun Indians of the Colusa Indian Community, Kletsel Dehe Band of Wintun Indians and Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation.  We are honored and grateful to be here today on their traditional lands.  The Dixon Historical Society is committed to recognizing and celebrating the culture and language of the Wintun tribal people.
